Any suggestions on fuel tanks cleaning and filling

74 109 ex mod. the tanks are under the seats, I do not know how functional that will be or if I should run a fill tube out of the vehicle. If anyone runs the tanks under the seats, are the fumes bad? I want to be able to have my daughter ride with me.
Next it was suggested that I have the tanks taken to a radiator shop to have them cleaned and beaded. They really do not seem to be too bad off and were running fuel through them a year ago. So are there any suggestions here. The radiator shop wants $150-$225 per tank.

    Thank you.

    Fuel Tanks

I have 71 ex mod with tanks under the seat with no problems or fumes. I may smell fumes from gear oil burning off my drive train but never fuel. I have my wife, daughter, and son in mine quite often.

I've got the under-seat tanks and at first they were a little inconvenient, but now I love them. It's really easy to do a visual fuel check, and siphon when needed. I don't get any fumes at all. My only concern is finding new seats that have bottoms that lift for access.

I have underseat tanks as well. No fumes inside the vehicle. I used some thin foam weatherstripping around the underseat covers just to be sure.

The tanks are easy to inspect due to the large opening. If they look clean inside, I say just use them as-is.

my tank was in good shape, so I cleaned out really well, etched the inside with phosphoric acid, cleaned it again, then sealed it with masterseries silver. Came out great!
