Another weekend on the S3---help with pictures/placement of 2 parts....

    Hello all,

So the top item is something in the dash---steering column bracket??Anyone have a pic of how it mounts into the assembly. I see nothing on the RN diagrams and could not find a PDF in the S3 parts listing (might have missed it). Only bit needing reassembly other than some wires on the dash!

The bottom piece I THINK is a stabilizing bar (I have 2 of them). Does anyone have a pic of how it connects to the rear tub fender? Of course, if it is not the part I think it is, comments appreciated!

Pics of progress coming on Monday!

    Cheers,
    Julian

The top part goes just behind and below the instrument panel and above the steering column. You'll see 2 holes on each side of the plastic instrument surround on the dashobard. That metal piece screws on through those holes.

The other piece is for the rear tub-to-wheelarch brace. On my 109 it goes from one of the rear tub crossmember attachments (the steel channels that go across the bottom of the tub) to a hole in the bottom edge lip of the rear tub just...behind, I want to say, but it might be in front...of the wheel arch.

        Mark,

Thanks very much! I ended up not getting to it due to other "issues" but see clearly how it goes back.

        Regards,
        Julian

          Mark,

          Sorry to hijack post.

Where are you getting those diagrams? I would be interested in a pdf for Series II.

          Thanks.

They're out of one of the SIII Parts Catalogues floating around on the internet. I haven't seen any SII parts catalogue .pdf's, just SIII's, though I never really looked for anything but SIII books.

FYI, you guys are awesome. You can look at a random part and know what it is.

I'm ok, hand me an axle or an engine part and I know it but not familiar with any body parts.

Max (we have the same name so this feels weird) send me a PM this evening and I'll see if I can assist you.

It's more of a sad statement that our rovers have been apart so often that we can now recognize most of the obsure parts.

Such is the perils of owning a rover.
