    Vent handle/mechanism orientation

    Hello all,

Dash will be done this weekend. But I cannot remember which way around the vent handle "holders" go in a Series 3 dash. Pictures I have seen on here are fuzzy.

I am specifically trying to determine which way the notches, that the handles move into to position the vent flaps, go.

A pic would be much appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Julian

Stomper...thanks....although they look a little different on my 72, would think it is the same. So to clarify, do the notches on both handles point towards the pass side?

      Regards,

Yes, They both point to the passenger side (providing you have a left hand drive vehicle!)

Julian, just take a look at the handles themselves--SIII vent haldles hook downward and have the word "vent" inscribed on the top part. Only one side of the lever can engage the slots.

Note that on my 72 SIII the notches are on the left side of the slot and the un-notched side is on the right, IIRC--I'll verifiy that after work, but I believe it is opposite of that shown in jac04's pic.

            [EDIT] OK yeah...here it is: P/N 346576

              Jac & Mark-

Jac--not sure if the SIII is the same as on a IIA, but, again, AWESOME vehicle you have there!

Mark--I took apart the handles (so the notched plate was powdercoated and now is separate from the hooked handle itself....hence the dilemma). That pic looks like it verifies what your truck has off the top of your head....so looks like both the driver and pass handle will notch to the left then!!!!

              Cheers,
              Julian

Thanks. Mine's a SIII. Mine is also a Lightweight, which uses different vent mechanisms. I figured the notches would be on the same side as a regular SIII, but I guess I was wrong. Sorry about that.

                  Jac-

I had to reread the post when you said it was a SIII then caught that it was a lightweight. Nice!! And thanks for the response....such a big help to have such a resource (preventing me from putting things in backwards!).

Just took the handles out of my '73 SIII RHD. The notches go to the left on it also.
