    Rear Window wiper

I want to put a window wiper on the rear window of my Series III. Rather than to start from scratch I thought I would ask for your input.

Is there a kit or wiper motor that I should use? Is there anything about the install that would help me?

    Cheers,

    Russ

I used a Discovery rear wiper as I already had one. The mounting bracket was adjusted on the motor to fit the rear door supports and match where the shaft needed to be to match the Defender door location. (The Door is actually a Defender door) I had to slightly enlarge the hole on the inside to fit the shaft, which was mounted to the door using the Discovery mounting nut and seal washer. I had planned to use a Defender wiper arm and blade, but I didn't like how far up on the window the wiper was located. I ended up cutting down a Range Rover rear wiper arm which allowed a larger sweep. I used the Discovery electrical connector, but I think I only used three wires on the plug. I never got around to fitting a cover over the motor, as I still want to replace the rotted bottom door frame. I figured just a thin wood box covered in black vinyl, mounted to the door frame.

Wiper motor is just a simple Bosch style knock off. Marine stores will have one, or look on fleabay and search for bosch wiper motor. These can be adjusted to be 120, 60 or 45 degree sweep. You may have to mount it to a plate before attaching it to the rear door. I think I may have one or two in my marine parts stash.
