Door Lock Removal - 1988 RRC

Does anyone have a procedure for the removal of the driver (LEFT) side door lock mechanism.

I have disconnected the 4 linkages and removed the 2 screws from the side of the door and the single screw from the inside door panel side ... but there must be something else holding the lock in place as it does not want to move.

The Haynes Manual I have (1970 - 1992) is useless.

A video would be real cool if we have one somewhere.

    Thank you

    Paul

Try this youtube link. Though this is a DI, the principle is the same.

Rats - I was hoping there was an easier way without dismantling the entire known universe aka taking the window out ... but I guess not!

I have a new lock mechanism to go back in. Is the old one held into the body work by RTV Silicon/some sort of glue too?

      Thanks Les

they show in that vid to remove the lock mechanism screws with a #2 phillips screwdriver. You want a #3 Pozidriv® bit or else you may strip the screw head. Order them from McMaster-Carr.
Also, if you are simply doing a re-key you don't need to take everything apart. The lock barrel is accessible altho you need wee tiny monkey hands. The barrel is held in with an e-clip. Just pop that off and the barrel comes out.

There is a foam gasket that goes between the latch and door shell, the ones I've removed have had some sealing goop added as well,
from the factory. So RTV would work fine.

I got it out and all fixed thanks. All I need to do now is figure out why the electric door lock actuator has quit! Low battery juice??

Still having problems with the actuators - looks like they arent working at all. Anyone know where I can get new ones? Looks like I may need all of them!
