    3.9 Distributor Parts & Pieces

    Hello all,

Picture below is the plastic piece that goes on the bottom of the distributor shaft between the fly weights. Mine is broken. See the little pins beside it- also the main ring has cracked in half where the pins have broken off!

My question is; what is it for and do I need it in order to reliably run?

    Thanks a bunch,

On the basis that it was put in there for a reason (though I have no idea what either to be honest) I would say probably yes and the weights may not centrifuge properly without it (whatever it does!!).

Next question is are they available on their own? I think the bit in question is RTC3198 for 3.5L engines with Dizzy 35DM8, RTC5090 with Dizzy 35DLM8 and RTC5090 for 3.9L and 4.2L engines. Not cheap though - they were about £70 or $140US in the UK last year for a 5090. Current Roversnorth price is $139 so not a bad guess!

    Happy new year

    Paul

      Thanks Paul.

I think I'm gonna try to run without the little bush and see how she does. If she won't run good then it's Mallory time.

      Regards and Happy New Year!
