    '95 RRC Front Window Removal

My door lock/latch has failed...looks like just a spring issue, but I bought a new latch assembly for the LH front door. In reading the '95 RRC Workshop Manual, it's necessary to remove the window and rails to gain access to the latch? Anyone done this before?

First thing the RRC WM says to do (after fully closing the window, securing same with tape, removing the card, and vapor barrier) is to "Remove window lift motor," by following the procedure in ELECTRICAL, Repair, Window Lift Motor - Front Door. This is next to impossible. It doesn't say this in the manual, but I believe they are T-30's and not the Hex Head bolt shown in the picture...but regardless, at least in my truck the three bolts are inside and facing out...on the backside of the regulator. After watching a DI regulator replacement video, it looks like they just took the whole regulator out with the motor and THEN took the motor off to swap. Interestingly enough, the reason for the video was to replace the regulator due to one of the plastic wheels being broken...which is what I also found on my truck, after inspection. The manual never discusses removing the window track from the regulator...which must be done in the down position, so you can get to the forward track bolt. ARGH!

So another order tomorrow for the regulator, as I only want to do this once....but my plan is to lower the window to remove the rail from the regulator...then carefully pull to the top and tape...and possibly brace in the middle with a screw driver.

My question is "am I looking at this correctly'? All I really needed to do in the beginning was to replace the latch, which looks like it would be much easier (possibly impossible without) after removing the window guide side rails and door top. I hope the widow will come out from the top without removing the channel...as the rubber looks a bit hard.

    Anybody done this? Help?

    Thanks,

    Damon
