two questions: 1 transmission and 2 lights

Looking at buying a 1991 Range Rover this weekend. Have not seen it yet but can't wait.

    1. She tells me that the automatic transmission will not shift into fourth gear.... said the truck runs up and then does not shift... is this a common problem and what is the potential solution? Easy or tough to fix.

    2. The other thing I was wondering was which lights should go on in the dash when the power is turned on? All of them or just certain ones?

    Thank you in advance!

i get most of the lights when i first start up the vehicle. my ABS and traction control light stays on for a few seconds sometimes but always shuts off when I start to drive.

Does anyone know how the brake wear sensor works? Does it run through the EFI computer or does it run through a separate system? I know that the front sensor is not hooked up but I just put new rear pads on with the sensor (never had the low pad light show up before I noticed the pads were very worn) and tried jumping the plug to see if it would trip the light. Thanks

Brake has a separate ECU and is not run through the engine ECU. I've never had those sensors work well in any car after the original set wore out. All they do is complete the circuit to light the warning light when the sensor contacts the rotor.
