We think my transfer case chain is jumping during high torque situations...towing from dead stop. At this point it is speculation between my mechanic and myself and need second opinions please. Low shutter type of noise that is definitly coming from end of trany or further back. I immediatily get off the gas when it happens and this all started while towing Series IIa back from TN a couple of months ago.

First question.... is this low thumping sound a possible symptom.
Second question....If we have this diagnosed correctly should we replace chain and gears or just buy a used unit and swap it out.
Thoughts are appreciated...
