    1969 Bugeye!

1969 Land Rover Late Series llA Bug-eye.
Amazingly preserved and well cared for example of a "Bug-eye" Land Rover.
Bug-eyes were only made the end of 1968 and the beginning of 1969 as a way of
complying with safety regulations in Australia and the USA to have the headlights at the outer
corners of the truck. The headlights are literally just installed onto the fender, making for a unique look.
Originally purchased in Tacoma, this truck has spent it's entire life
in the Pacific Northwest. The original owner took great care keeping this truck
in optimal condition, and it shows in every area.
In the last five years of my ownership I have done the following maintenance and improvements:
    - New carburetor.
    - New clutch hydraulic system.
    - Complete valve job.
    - Water pump.
    - Reseal of all major mechanical components.
    - New universal joints, and balancing of prop-shafts.
    - Complete brake system overhaul, including all new master cylinder and wheel cylinders.
    - New tie-rod ends.
    - New stainless steel exhaust system from NRP. Sounds great and will last forever!
    - New Tires, are the correct size Toyo 7.00-15 radial, really work great on and off road.
    - Powder-coated wheels in original color.
    - Added new soft top, and drop down tailgate.
    - New Optima battery
    - Leather steering wheel cover
    - Renewed front sliding window felt tracks.

    Present condition of vehicle:
    - Starts up, and runs great with no smoke.
    - Compression is 158 psi with no deviation greater than 6%
    - Oil pressure is stable around 50 psi
    - Brakes in perfect order.
    - Transmission and transfer-case operate quietly and properly.
    - Clutch is strong with no slipping or chatter.
    - Steering is direct and smooth, with no excessive play
    - The body is straight, only slight dings in places like the top of the fenders.
    - Paint is mostly original, has been touched up in areas.
    - Interior is impeccable, with the exception of one rip in the drivers side seat pad. Even the original floor mats are in great shape.
    - The frame and bulkhead have no perceivable corrosion or damage. They have had the paint touched up over the years to keep them in this condition.
    - The frame and doors still have factory crayon marks present. (See pictures)
    - Front door seals are original and need to be renewed by the new owner.

    Included with purchase of truck:

    - Warn free-wheeling front hubs. (installed)
    - Hella H4 headlights with plastic covers (installed)
    - Hard top, plus all original interior trim pieces. The headliner and trim pieces look like new.
    - Side opening rear door for use with hard top.
    - Original jack, and tool kit.
    - Two sets of original keys (door locks work)

This truck is located in Portland, Or
I would love to see the truck stay local, but can assist in shipping if need be.
    The title is clear.
    Price is $16,500
May be open to interesting trades... Lotus Elan, Early Porsche 911, Renault 5 Turbo...

That is one pretty Rover, wish I lived closer, though my bank account is glad I don't.
    Best,
    Mark

I updated the B/E registry to reflect the change of ownership. I missed this Rover when you first posted it for sale; nice condition.

Please tell the new owner to join this forum and post updates.

        Thanks,
        Gary
