Parabolics and tires

Parabolics in the mail on a 1972 109 SW. Understand it may give a little lift. Is it worth going to a larger size than 235/85/16 or 7.5 X 16 or sticking with that size? Standard 2.25. In addition, any good tires in the US that come in 7.5 x 16? Gave up on trying to get Michelin XZLs and everything else seems to come in 235/85/16.

i put on parabolics. and i love my my cooper discover sst 235/85 r16. the paras gave me an easy 2" lift over the old worn stock springs.

A) RN has XZL's.....

B) Michelin has a street tire in 7.5Rx16 (an XPS, I think...)

C) Yokohama has a 7.5Rx16 tire that is a bit more offroad oriented... (no knowledge of it as far as being good or bad).

D) Cooper has the Courser Traction in 7.5Rx16.

E) No problem w/ 235/85R16's, can get BFG MT or AT, etc. etc. etc.

PS: with a stock 2.25, I'd stick w/ the 7.5R16 or 235/85 sizes......

I wouldnt go over 33's unless you have done lots to the engine or swaped in something more powerfull. I run 32's and have done a lot of work to my engine, it runs like a raped ape but thats with it stripped down too.

One of the problems with rover axles is that there isnt many axle gearing options.

I had gone through all of this a few months back. The 7.50R16 tire is the right fit for the 5.5" width rims. The 235's require a 6" minimum width, although many make the change anyway. Also, the 7.50's are a load level D tire(8 ply) and will be a bit more pliable. The 235's are a load level E tire(10 ply) and could be needlessly stiff. You can obtain 7.50R16 tires in the Peerless Widetrack Baja, in either an A/S or a A/T variety. It is a Bridgestone tire and retails for approx $110. each.
