Wired up new brake/turn signal lamps - only 50% working currently

The side lights should have no common connection point with the indicators with the one exception being the ground point.

Unless this is the worst-case-scenario, that is. You know, the one where there was a short and a wire burned up in the bundle, making all sorts of non-factory circuits.

This problem is easy to figure out if you know how to use a multi-meter, but 'multi-meter' and 'how electricity works' is something for somebody else to teach. I'll bet there are plenty of sites and YouTube videos on this subject.
