RangeRover wheels on a Series??

These look like the steel spare wheel that came with the RRC's, anyone used them on a series? I have a few of these from previous RRC's that I may try, but wanted some feedback first....

Steel wheels should fit. Easy enough to slap on on to make sure.

RRCs never had steel wheels to my knowledge (except for the early Rostyles). They all came with alloy spares, at least the NADA ones.
Those appear to be Disco 1 spare tire wheels. This was a popular switch in the 1990s, for some unknown reason.

I have two 95 Classic's, and both came with steel spares.

Both of mine were County's fully loaded, that had the TWR Designed LR wheels that became standard on the 95's, and some Defenders.

Why do they need to be cut down, and by cut down what do you mean, width?

I have the same wheel as a spare with my County Lwb. Once used it as a spare on my SIII.

I'm taking 1" out of the width. I think they should work real well at that size with the narrow tires on them. The rims were cheap and my labor is free so we will see how it turns out!

How wide are those wheels ?

Seems like they are 7s. They might be 8s. I have one I was going to use as a bonnet spare. It was so tall I felt like I was peering out the gunner's slot of a tank.

The ones I have are 7" right now, soon they should be 6"!

Those are not RRC wheels. They are Disco I steels that were introduced in 1989/90 with the Disco I. The steel in these wheels are the same thickness as Wolf rims making them great HD alternative wheels for series vehicles. The downside with the extra thickness is that the wheel studs are a bit short which does create a safety concern. If you regularly check your wheel nuts then no problem, but there has been a few accidents in England where the wheels have come off from lack of maintenance. I'd have to check the set in the garage but I'm sure that they are 7" wide.

I expect it was to fit wider tires and still keep within tire mfg specs.
Also I was told by someone who worked at a POE that the Discos were actually shipped over with steel wheels then switched to alloys, so the steel ones were cheaper to find than old Series wheels in good shape. I have no idea if that's true or just something the person was mixed up about.
