    Stephen Peters at Safari HP in FL has all the replacement parts for the Fairey. Bearings, however, are easily sourced via cross reference.
    o2batsea, are there particular bearings that are "the usual suspects" for the whining noise so many people seem to experience with these? I've priced replacing all the bearings and seals and the price tag is pretty big considering how many bearings are in these things. I haven't found a definitive list of what parts should be replaced for a proper rebuild, just some notes on what others have done. I'd like to rebuild mine someday, but I also don't want to spend more than it is worth on parts.

    Also, does anyone know if there is a anyone that trades non-rebuilt units for rebuilt units? I know Rovers Down South used to be the go to guys for these things but are no longer in business.

      Although it could be a bearing, I think it more likely that a slipper pad(or both) has been deformed/scratched the outer syncro hub slot they ride in due to lack of lubrication. Now there is not a smooth surface to run on. I could be wrong and it may be something else entirely. Slipper pads are part #532943, same as in the LT77 gearbox.
      Changing the pads and adjusting the selector fork can be done in the vehicle.

          I tend to over fill my overdrive so I added this overflow catch.

            I am wrong it would appear. George is reported to have retained all the Fairey OD parts and not sold them off to Stephen. Unfortunately, George has gone radio silent and nobody knows how to get in touch with him, let alone buy parts. Looks like Fairey owners are going to be SOL unless something changes soon.

              @sea,

              Too bad. I delt with George many times over the years and he is a good guy. A bit direct, but good. As for Fairey parts, any sources across the pond?

              Cheers

                Let me ask this, if a Fairey OD is in good shape, will it make any whine at all?

                  All gears in a Landy will make some noise. The difference is good and bad whine. Gnarly, loud wine is not a good thing. More nice gear noise like gears getting along is OK. It all gets down to knowing your truck.. It's history, your maintainance and monitoring of fluids etc. The Fairey OD requires frequent monitoring of fluid levels as it doesn't hold very much fluid. I don't care if you have a catch beer can or not, that puppy will whip he hell out of the fluid in there when engaged. If you don't check it, it will go too low and you have the problems mentioned here. Let's hope there are parts available somewhere fore these OD's as they really are good units if matained well. Our trucks are getting old(like some of their owners) and require a bit of attention to keep functioning properly. KTF.

                  Cheers,
                  Rob

                    Hi All,

                      Do a search on Ebay. There were some Fairey OD parts listed by I believe George's wife. Contact her through the listing and ask how to get in touch with George.

                        My Fairey whined new out of the box in 1994. I had it for 18 years or so and sold it to a fellow forum member. Far as I know it's still going. The doom and gloom is over rated provided you keep oil in them. That's obvious but true.
