    Oil Filter/Change 2.6 NADA

Looking at the parts manual there appears to be a small rubber gasket that should go under the oil filter. When I try to find this part nothing comes up. In my truck there was a spring at the bottom of the filter.

Any ideas? Do I need the spring or the gasket at the bottom?

    Thanks

Good luck with this. I tried to get an answer a month ago, RN, G&R, UK FB pages, you name it I asked everywhere and nobody had a definitive answer. The parts manual shows nothing except a cork gasket. When I took mine apart the first time it had 2 cork gaskets, a spring and a large washer. Others said they used nothing. I dont think the element has to be forced tight against the top. I don’t think that system forces the oil down the tube and through the element. So I dont think it has to be tight. If so a spring and washer at the bottom would help would make sense but no one came up with that requirement. RN told me there was not a spring or washer. (I think he just looked at the parts book like I did). The new filter I got from RN came with only cork gaskets. So I put mine back together with a larger washer in the bottom, and a cork gasket/spacer and a cork spacer at the top. That is my solution until someone proves there is a better way.
