I like his Volvo 122s of all his inventory. Why is he calling a Series 2B a 101FC?

My advice to anyone looking for a series truck is basically pretty simple, but in order to understand why I say it, you have to be a patient person to start with: Buy the truck with the best bulkhead, you can find. Do not put too much emphasis on add-ons like ODs, winches, etc. I'd much prefer a smokey engine and good bulkhead, than vice versa.
Unless you are planning on Pebble Beach, you don't have to spend anywhere near $25K. This, of coarse, assumes you are going to be doing the work yourself, costing yourself out at roughly $0.00 per hour. IN 35+ years of owning series trucks, I honestly can't remember how many I have had, and doubt I've spent $25K on 3 trucks. The last 88 I did totally over was sold on this board for just under $11K and I would have had a hard time spending any more on it. I think the pics of it are still in the for sale section.

There is a Series IIa for sale in my backyard (Birmingham, AL). You can see it at www.landroversforsale.com. I am happy to check it out for you, including pics. May be more than you want to pay.

Also, check out www.tntlr.com, in South Pittsburgh, TN. They have several series LRs for sale. I have a friend who bought an 88 and a 109 from them, and he's happy with both, as well as additional work they did on both.

I think one of the guys hit it on the head, Patience, so it maybe six months until you find what you are looking for, shop around and go look at it.

i wish i could remember the rover club that i found mine. it was on their website under classifieds where their members sold and traded. i bought it for $5900 off a guy in littlerock, ar. drove it 750 miles home, and in the last 2 years put 12000 miles on it and put about $5000 more in it (petrol not included). l love this truck. i don't keep track of the hours under it but i think my wife does. just tonight, news year eve and i leave in the afternoon today for an 8 month navy vacation to iraq, i spent 7 hours wearing insulated overalls in 18 degrees farinhiet, with my buddy jeff alias badvibes, wiring up a new altenator and dual batteries. i get home at 0140 wake the wife and tell her thanks and that PD is running great. she says "oh sure, for about ten minutes and you'll find something else on that'll break"

this truck is my daily driver and sanity restorer.

best of luck finding one, and a little more keeping it going but i believe it's worth it.

                          Autoguy,

I am in North/Central, Arkansas, and have a 1973 Series III, 88 which I might consider selling. It's a little rough, but solid, I believe. Non-original Chevy 153 engine, lots of dents, a little rust...

No Problem! I don't blame you one bit. Some want the original engine, some want something more "familiar".

I just thought that mine looked better than the first one you were looking at, and I was within driving distance.

I am not actively trying to sell it, but I would consider it.

                              Good luck with your search.
