      1967 109 Green with Ford 300 - 6 Cyl,

      Hi,

Just posted on another thread about my former 109 with a Ford 300 EFI that I installed in the late 80's.

If anyone knows where it is, hopefully it can make it on to the NADA Registry.

Last seen in San Luis Obispo County, Calif., ca. 1990

      Regards,

            1967 SIIa 109 SW #663A

I have a 1967 SIIa 109 SW that lives on Bainbridge Island, Washington. It was a 2.6 6cyl without an engine when I bought it 1998ish. I put in a 250 chevy and have been fairly happy with it. VIN ends with #663A.

The story I was given when I bought it as that it was used in the 1968 Mexico Olympics as a film camera truck. It had a crazy big front bumper with mounting points and (4) 2 inch holes drilled through the sun sheet on the perimeter of the roof. Presumeably, these were for the camera platform where the film cameramen stood. It was originally all tan and had been sprayed with black paint so I repainted it dark green with a tan top. It has an A at the end of the VIN which I am not sure of and it has a small (4inch) cast aluminum oval tag on the rear with "CD" on it. I was told this stands for "Corp Diplomatique." Any clues if this is true or a load of crap.

I checked my copy of the NADA Production Records. 663 was built between 11July 67 and 10 August 67. The color was Limestone. It was shipped to a Carl Wiffman in California. I "Googled" Carl Wiffman and found nothing. I don't know the significance of "A". My 717 has the same Suffix.

Kevin: If you go to eBay and enter the Search " Land Rover Series Land Rover Series IIA" You will find current Auctions for a 109 Forward Cross Member and a Transmission Cross Member. You will also find current Auctions for other NADA and/or 109 Parts.

                  Patrick,
Could I ask if you have any info on #160A. I am looking to chase down its date of first registration so the original cosignee info would be really useful.

                  Regards
                  Gregor

Good Morning Gregor; 160A began production 17 June 1966 and production was completed 28June 1966. The original color was light green. It was dispatched to Rover San Francisco. This probably would have been Rover Motor Company
of North America Limited in South San Francisco, California. That Company no longer exists. I did some Googling and may have found a derivative of that company, the owner of which may be able to provide some help in your quest. I have a pdf I'll send you if you will email me so that I can attach the pdf to it.

It is fairly complete and has a Chevy 250 conversion. It need to be taken apart, painted, and put back together. All the usual stuff like brakes, fuel systems, and wiring need to be addressed. And it needs an interior. A new back door wouldn't hurt. Corrosion in the usual spots, firewall, doors, and pillars, exists, but is minimal - all can be easily restored.

Pete; I have not received correspondence from you in months. I have found a company in the UK that is very knowledgeable with regards to the 2.6L engine. He can provide many many parts for the Weslake Head Engine. If you or anyone else wants that source email me and I'll provide the particulars. He is apparently elderly and does not always reply promptly, but he does reply. He has provided parts that I had given up trying to locate.

Good Morning Ray; According to records I downloaded several years ago, your unit began production 7 November 1966 and was finished 22 November 1966. It was Limestone and was dispatched to Rover Jacksonville. Does it still have the 2.6L Engine? If so, I can provide parts sources for just about everything.

Thanks Jim. I've seen the dispatch info....believe it spent it's life in the Key West and was rode hard and put away wet. Good to know someone who has a line on parts for this. It does still have the 6 cyl, but it won't turn over and I haven't torn into it (yet).

I'll keep my eyes on this thread for inspiration!
