Well, since the hubs, axles, diff and drive shaft turn when not in 4WD anyway, not too much more load is put on them by turning under load all the time. This also puts the engine torque on all four wheels. So, using 'fuzzy math', at 100# of torque I'm putting 25# to each wheel instead of 50# to each rear. I agree that CV joints would be better, one must use what's available. The reason Stage 1's (and later on, Defenders...) were full time 4WD was just to distribute the torque evenly and prevent breaking something.

New Series Owner 1971 Series IIA 88
Hello all.
I just wanted to introduce myself, I have been a rover fan for a long time,
and now have three rovers in the family.
My Daily driver is a 2004 Discovery, and I gave my 1998 P38A to my daughter to drive, now I get to drive it to get petrol! and the most recent addition is my 1971 Series IIA 88. I have been looking for a Series rover for quite some time, and finally spotted one at the Land Rover Centre in Huddersfield UK.
Mark Griffiths and I went through many emails and phone calls, and well finally my Series arrived from the Baltimore docks via my transport Co.
I'm loving it, and I'm sure I'll have lots of questions.
Thanks for the great web site and forum.

My Christmas Present
Hi everyone...I am new to the Series family, but an old Land ROver family member, having bought my first LR in 2003 - and I still own it - a 1995 RRC LWB...quite modified for offroad use. And I got my daughter a 2001 SE7 Disco.
Now because I am a glutton for punishment I own the third in the stable - a 8/1970 manuf 1971 Series IIa 88". It was a "barn find" and needs a lot of work, however nothing structural!! I was amazed to find that the chassis, bulkhead, breakfast, cross members, floor etc was all RUST FREE - except for some surface stuff which is easily sanded off. So the work begins...I am looking forward to bringing it back to driver condition - with some nice upgrades following that. First up is brakes, MBC, seals and hubs - while in that state I may replace the 10 splines with 24's, as this would help I am sure.
Anyway - I am sure I will have many questions for this forum.1963 Series IIa 109" 5 door Safari top (SOLD to new home)

My Landy
Hi, I am new to your forum but have followed it for the past 3 years. You have helped me just by my reading your technical section. I hope I can repay that.
I have attached some pictures of Lincoln Lass from when I got her as a barn find and as she is today. She is a 2.25 petrol now converted to SW sides. I do plan to install the Alpine roof lights and construct all the interior trim........in the goodness of time. Meanwhile I hope you enjoy the photos.
