Hey, yes I have driven my Rover to Kingsport before. I grew up in Kingsport, where the Thatched Roof Garage used to be. The whole reason I got into Rovers was because when I was around 10 years old I saw a pastel green short wheel base Series Rover driving down the road and I always told myself I would have one. It was just the coolest looking truck I had ever seen, the size and proportions of these trucks makes them look so cool (the long wheel base versions too, its like when you see a super car it seems smaller or built to a different scale than other "normal" cars). When I got a job right out of college I started looking for a Rover, so I sought out the owner of the pastel green Rover I had seen when I was a little man, he and I made friends and together we started looking for a Rover for me. I bought my Rover out of New Hampshire from the Goose Hollow Farms' owner, Lance who bought the truck from the original owner in the 70's (a 1961 Series II that is documented on the lrfaq.org as an original LHD North American truck originally sold in Boston). Long story short a few months after I bought the Rover I made plans to drive it to my home town (Kingsport, TN) and take pictures of my truck alongside the Rover from my childhood. The trip was about 250 miles one way from Lexington, KY and it took me 5 hours. I ran 65-70 mph the whole way and even pulled Jelico mountain, crossing into Tennessee, at 55 in overdrive. Sorry for the long story but I have been wanting to share it with everyone for a while since I dont get a chance to come to any Rover meets or camp outs since most of the Rover population lives a good distance from me. The pictures I have added are of my Rover and my now friend, Jim Falins' Rover, after making it to Kingsport. His Rover was exactly what I wanted in a Series, so when I found out my orignal color was pastel green I was super happy (I have since fallen in love with my Rover as it is and won't be painting it until I redo the engine and swap a galvanized chassis under it)
NC Mule - Hey I have also made plans to drive through Boone with my Rover and the rest of the Series crowd in Kingsport some time hopefully soon. I used to frequent Boone when I was living in Kingsport, my Dad played football at Appalachian State and his old football coach still sends him tickets to every home game, so I was familiar with the area growing up. I will be coming up your way this winter a lot because I used to go snowboarding up there after school in high school but I've not been able to go in almost four years, since I moved to Lexington. I am taking a few Fridays off of work to make a whole weekend snowboarding trip in Boone this winter, I would love to see your truck and meet up if you arent busy the next time I head that way.

Nice looking truck! I live in Valle Crucis just down the hill from the ski resorts. I snow board as well and love taking the "Mule" up the steep climb to Beech Mtn. I'm always up for boarding, I own a motorcycle repair business so I have plenty of free time in the winter.
I'll PM you my cell, keep me posted on your visits.

New to the forum, just saying hello. As I said in my other post - just imported the 109 from New Zealand and it's about to go through a thorough revamp. From what I've read so far this forum is a wealth of knowledge - so I hope I can contribute as I build mine.
As it stands - fully stock '66 2.25L (converted from a holden I6 since it couldn't pass customs with it). Ex NZ government, non-military vehicle. We've got big plans for it, so I'll make sure I keep you all looped in on the build.

Today I was separating engine and transmission from a '67 NADA I'm restoring,
After many years resting in a field in Pennsylvania, everything was stuck/seized.
Used the '02 P38a as the anchor vehicle and the '06 Supercharged as the pull vehicle.
Got everything apart in about 30 minutes, didn't have the gearbox balanced though, it tipped over as you can see in the pic and made a significant clean up effort in the driveway.
All is well and engine and gearbox are resting separately for first time in 46 years.
