        Top is on:

I guess I didn't really appreciate the craftmanship of the Badger Coachworks top on my old '63 until I fit this Exmoor top. It's not a bad top, but it's no Badger!

Looks great as usual and I hear you about the quality of the fit of an Exmoor top. From day one one side fits great but the drivers side will not pull into the door frame because they put the holes for the rope in the wrong place.

            Jim-
Do the sides of your top pull down snug? On mine, the location of the ropes where they are supposed to hook under the cleats on the rear tub are lower than I think they should be.

Yes they do for the most part but I can not get them taught like the top on my son's Jeep so they do flap some. It seems to fit better on the sides since it shrunk some. I looked at my top again and it isn't that the holes for the rope are in the wrong place it is that the actual canvas panel on the side is too short from front to back by about an inch. I like both Ike's and Badger tops. My next one will be from one of those folks.

^^ Hmmm. My side panels seem a little too long front to back as well as top to bottom. The instructions claim that the top is made from original patterns, so I'mm assuming they probably used the same tolerances too.

The sides on my top seem a little long as well. The length front to back is ok but no matter how hard I pull, even after working them tight front to back, it's still loose. I've also run into little nuances about Exmoor tops that irritate me like the length of the front and rear straps are such that they are almost completely pulled up as the top gets tight. I talked to Ike a year or so ago about making me a top but at the time he was so backed up with his other stuff that tops were on the back burner.

                    I noticed this as well.
Although I would love another one, I just can't justify a Badger Coachworks top for this vehicle - considering that a Badger top costs about 4x what this top did. Oh well.

Unfortunately with tops as with most things it seems like you get what you pay for.

Sorry about the lack of updates. After this long project, my back finally said "enough". Looks like I'll be on injured reserve for a little bit.
                        Stay tuned...........

^^ Thanks for the words of encouragement. I tried to 'play through the pain', but just couldn't. I wouldn't wish back problems on anyone. Luckily, the really bad pain should be over now. I just have to take it easy for a while.
