What did you do to your Rover today?

I was able to maintain about 55mph, and didn't attempt much more. Two weeks ago I carried 30 40lb bags of top soil. That weight I noticed! Found out the brakes weren't up to it also so I replaced the MC and decided to limit the load. There's 35 bags there. I could have fit in 5 or 10 more, but why be daft?

I transport a ton of wood pellets three times each winter in my 109 pickup, in fifty 40 lb bags. I tend to keep the speed about 45, and don't really notice a difference in braking except downhill.... Uphill, it tends to really slow down. I did note that the three leaf parabolic springs on the wife's 109 don't have nearly the capacity of the stock type springs on my 109.

Went for a drive around town with a friend and my wife and child- used the back benches as an impromptu picnic spot as the wind was quite cold- on the way home a kid skateboarding down a hill tried to sneak up and grab one of the handles/bumperettes on the back, miscalculated and his board shot under the truck and nearly was crushed...somehow made it under and through an intersection without getting hit. Glad he didn't go under as well...My friend riding in back saw the whole thing happen._________________________________________

This weekend I continued to prove what seems to for me be the "rover rule of two". As in repairs seems to need to be done twice to be right. Which I am sure is just me and my limited experience.
I replaced the fourth and final brake cylinder after each new one failed due to using the cheapies. Lesson learned.
Fixed the fuel sender after installing a new and having it lose the ground. Easy fix but should have grounded it in the first place.
Sorted out the new shocks and got the correct pair on the front and back versus side to side due to no directions and no clear distinction between pairs at cursory examination.
Fixed the overheating problem by replacing the thermostat the second time after the first failed after maybe 10 hours of running. Another cheapie.
And readjusted the tappets just to make sure they weren't too tight after the first adjustment. They were but I figured the down side was high so just made sure.
The silver lining is that everything is easier the second time around.1995 NAS D-90 Soft Top, AA Yellow

I find the 'Cursory filled examination' usually takes place when you figure out you have to do it again.1958 107 SW - Sold to a better home

Yeah. Amazing how much the details matter when you realize you f**d it up the first time.
So far I have not had to do anything a third time. Cross my fingers1995 NAS D-90 Soft Top, AA Yellow

No Rover work on my own fleet today although I used the Rangie to move the dbl axle trailer up to the barn for a wiring and flat tire fix.
Customer work? Oil change on my father in law's jeep and failed running diagnosis on an E-type, but otherwise business is a little slow while we wait for parts...sigpic92 RRC, 94 DI, 06 LR3Comment

FINALLY!!!! After a year got to drive it. This is my first rover to restore, when I got this it was in boxes completely disassembled. I think I got everything back where it goes. Still working on the interior. Thanks to our hosts and other suppliers of parts.......whew! what a challenge.sigpic
