    SIII Aux. Instrument Panel

Just looking through the SIIA / SIII Optional Parts Catalog and came across this page--Anyone ever seen any of these around?:

Interesting, I originally thought this was a 3rd party item on my truck. I've got this (only parts 346732/347849, 346734, and 347308) on my RHD '82 Series III. I'll snap some pics if you like, but I don't know of a source.

The switch panel seems to be fairly common, but I haven't seen the gauge panel. The gauge panel would only fit the trucks that do not have the vent openings on the slanted panel attached to the dash pad section. The switch panel will fit between the vent openings, but the gauge panel would be too wide.

This is a pic of the switch panel in my 109, with the vent opening areas on either side. Some trucks do not have the vent openings, and all of the air from the bulkhead vents comes out of the openings around the defrost vents or from a narrow opening above the instrument panel.

Yeah--I'd love to see a pic or 4. The other Aux instrument panel page shows the faces without the large gauge panel in the center, plus a shroud:

Ahh.. OK--Thanks Bob--I think I HAVE seen those before! Yours has a plastic panel with vent louvers on the bulkhead--Mine is just the steel bulkhead back there, I think (It's been so long since I've driven my rover, I can't remember!).

That plastic panel is from a Defender. I picked it up when I bought the RHD Defender lower dash. Some trucks won't have vent openings in the slanted bulkhead behind the plastic panel.

Yup, that's pretty much what mine looks like (different switches, a single ammeter in the lower dash... little things).

I found a couple of these on Ebay UK. They were complete. It's pretty simple to fabricate, though.

I'm pretty sure that my truck was equiped from the factory with it and I think it may have been a NA issue for the hazzard switch. Who knows? It does seem to add some support between the upper dash and lower tray, though. I just didn't like the layout with some switches facing away.

I think theinitial Series IIIs lacked the vent openings and they were added a year into production or something like that. Not on '73s but they are on '74s or something like that.

The extra wide panel is fitted to ex-military vehicles, like this in my 1975 Series III 88" ex Belgian military truck. (plus a few extra ad ons )

The military Land Rovers are fitted with the wider panel for the convoy light switch. This is my 110 but the military series are the same.
