Ok, so I'm new here, and the first 2 threads I actually start make me look very needy. Does anyone in the New England area have an extra round Smith Heater? On mine, the core is shot and leaking. It's all that's holding me up from registering my 109. PM or email Harvey at mallard1990@verizon.net

I'm not sure but a guy here at the airport was scoping out my 109 a while back and saw the heater core on the table. He said it is exactly like the ones in the Triumphs he rebuilds. Never looked into it because mine was good but could be worth an investigation.1970 Series IIA 109 EX-MOD

I've checked those, and yes they are like Triumphs and also Jag heaters are like these, problem is the replacement cores are so damn expensive.Comment

response to smiths heater dilema
I had a smiths heater in my 2a. Leaked, smelled, and leaked some more. Replaced it with a Jeep MK heater, almost the same size but square, for 65$ found on colemans.com. Heater works better than the small shin burning smiths pancake one. Throws plenty of heat.Comment

Thanks cedryck, this is the best lead I've had since the thing started leaking. You wouldn't happen to have the part # would you?Comment

Glad to help! Look at the 8000 series. Its 2" taller, deeper and wider, but its 25000 BTUs. Do you know the shin burners dimensions? Would the below fit?

The Shin-burner is 8wx10Hx6D
The 8" part is the circular part, the 10" is to the top of the defroster plenum, it's mostly the depth that I have to be careful about, as this is mounted just above the pedals, so if it gets too deep, it'll interfere with the operation of the Rover.Comment

I'm going to replace my shin burner and am looking at the maradyne as well (odd thing to think about as its 92 outside at the moment). Ive thought about moving it to the passenger side for 3 reasons:
1. No more intererence with the pedals
2. It looks like the defrost output is on the left side, so routing the duct would be easier.
3. My girlfriend would ride on that side and she's tiny so no issue and it keeps her warmer and less prone to camplaining.
Im not sure how well it would work or the downsides, but something to consider.Comment
