If you use an earlier style oil bath (like this one: http://bringatrailer.com/2010/08/30/...49-land-rover/), one without holes in the top, you can route the intake hose from the snorkel directly to said oil bath and have a hose from the bath run to the carb.------------------------------------------------

Sliders
Andrew:
I am in the same boat...I would like some sliders and don't have a lot of time to make a set of sliders for my rover restoration project. In case it helps I saw this site (below) where the fabrication of sills is explained. I figured down the road I would combine this design with some of Ike's sill features (I also found out Ike is fully booked right now).
There is a company in UK "Mill Services" (second link below) that fabricates some nice looking sliders (multiple designs) at a fair price. I have exchanged E-Mails with them but they usually just ship to locations in UK & I have not figured out how to arrange transport from their location. Maybe one of the gang on the board is planning a trip to UK and pick us both up a set?

One thing to note if you are building your own.... Some folks (like the links above) cut out a section of the slider to get it to fit around the bulkhead outrigger better and fit more flush to the body. I did not and let mine sit proud of the side of the body. It gives about 1/2 to 1 inch of extra side protection and is a WHOLE LOT SIMPLER to build.
I understand that some folks want to smooth side lines - so it is a personal choice.Firemanshort

If you really want someone to make a set that are completely to your liking, contact Carey at www.downeastcoachworks.com He is making a set for me now, as we speak. Galvanized, and beefy, just like Ike'sBad gas mileage gets you to some of the greatest places on earth.Comment
