Just fill that space with a warn 8274! They look right at home on a series truck.

Lots of info plus those pics from here.

Quite a few Skippy's around the place. Good little wagons. Not sure of the front exhaust thing, but all the old trucks used to do it.

Brush bars won't stop a kangaroo (and we don't have them anyway). They will stop a lot of bush and scrape damage.

Even the bars on an old farm hack look better than later model Defender bars IMO.

Of course, if it's bars on a series you want...

Why not just dispense with the series...

Not a whole lot of native land mammals to choose from over there...Willing to bet that brush guard will do the job in case of a long-tailed bat collision!

exhaust in the front was probably set up on that vehicle so the radio operators in the rear could operate with less fumes around..

Or maybe to keep the heat down inside?

thread came up today where someone on the D90 forum found a stash of UK military (Camel trophy style) brushbars for a good price.

I think you're right about the heat thing. They do tend to get bashed about up there.

Another one for good measure. Real work horses, even if its only for collecting pine cones.

This is the brush guard that was on my 88 when I bought it. I don't know the manufacturer but it was installed in England before import. The brush guard is long gone but the 88 is still around.

I wonder what one would look like that only came up in front of the wings on either side, just protecting the important stuff, not the 1-foot gap of nothingness before the radiator support/grille?

My personal opinion is that it would have all the functionality of a full-width brush guard, allow access to the engine bay if by some crazy chance a Series Rover owner ever needed access to that area, and look a whole lot better to boot. But then again, I've never seen a setup like this.

This is the brush guard on my wife's 109. It is a real beast--weighs about 130 pounds. And attached to a nice galvanized frame...

1983 Camel Trophy used S3, 88"s.. Here's their version of a series brush guard. Protecting the lights, integrating jerry can holders and leaving the middle open..
