I wonder what one would look like that only came up in front of the wings on either side, just protecting the important stuff, not the 1-foot gap of nothingness before the radiator support/grille?
My personal opinion is that it would have all the functionality of a full-width brush guard, allow access to the engine bay if by some crazy chance a Series Rover owner ever needed access to that area, and look a whole lot better to boot. But then again, I've never seen a setup like this.

Yeah, like that! Except maybe have some 3/8" round stock going across each guard, like I've done here:
