Were you the individual, or unit that I helped Beechgrove locate? If so was Alan able to meet your requirements?

#140 purchased by me from WCB and is currently about 70% done with a frame off total restoration for me by them. Should be very nice and original when done. Will be completed by Sept 10.
cheers

I just reread this entry and realized that you might be under the impression that all 109 chassis are the same. The second cross member of a NADA Chassis is located several inches to the rear of where a 4 cylinder chassis cross member is located. That is to permit the installation of the longer engine.Leave a comment:

I tried to attach the Engine Drawing page and the Engine Parts list page in pdf. They are too large for the forum. They show the parts. If you want to look at them you will have to send me an email to which I'll attach them. patrickfoley1. (redbrush2@yahoo.com)Leave a comment:

I am not a mechanic. I have been fortunate enough to have found a company in the UK that appears to be knowledgeable with regards to the P4 110 Engine. Be advised, the P4 110 engine came in both 2.6L and 3.0L. The difference being the stroke. Among the 2.6L engines the only version suitable for the Westlake Head is the engine with the Oil Return in the rear.
There were two (2) Non-NADA 2.6L engines placed in 109's. One had a compression ratio of 7.0:1 and the other 7.8:1. The 7.0:1 was rated at 88 BHP at 4500 rpm. The 7.8:1 was rated at 93 BHP at 4500 rpm. By way of comparison the NADA compression ratio is 8.8:1 and 123 BHP at 5000 rpm.
If you find that your european 2.6L has a Rear Oil Return, come back to me and I may be able to direct you to someone who can supply you with a head. Be advised, these heads were subject to warping, so check that out before buying. Also be advised that Head Bolts have been out of production for 40 years as have Inlet Valves. I recently acquired one Inlet Valve to be used as a template when next I need them.Leave a comment:

I just picked up a good used bulkhead and had a chat with the seller. He knew of several other 109 chassis for good prices and in good useable shape so i think I'll pursue those. I could probably strip my chassis down and repair it but I think it would not be worth the time it would take...plus I'd rather swap parts over to a frame then have them sitting somewhere for a while.
So did I read your post correctly in that my truck likely came down from Canada? I have a bunch of receipts and corresponding emails so I'll look over those again and see if I can figure out the origin. I do have a title but I don't think it will be much help.Leave a comment:

If anyone ever pulls the 2.6 or has the part kicking around, I am interested in putting the westlake head on my euro spec 2.6. Not in any rush since I haven't seen my truck in 7+ months but wanted to put it out there if someone eventually makes the switch...
Maybe someone here knows if it is even worth it, supposedly it provides more power than the euro version. I also need an exhaust manifold someday.Leave a comment:

My restoration will be on a new chassis purchased from out Hosts a year ago. Most of my old chassis is in good shape, but it has rusted out (or close to it) in a couple of spots. You are welcome to it, at no charge, but you must come and get it. If you are interested email me at redbrush2@yahoo.com. I have some photo's, and can target specific areas with more photo's if you are interested. I don't want to send it to the scrap yard.

I think my 109 is a 68 but here is the VIN: 34300728A. Looked it up on the VIN finder and it just lists it as a date range. This truck is in Rutland Vermont and was poorly "restored" by someone in Florida about 10 years ago. I am currently working on it and given the condition of the frame I am considering putting everything onto my 100" range rover chassis ....which would be stretched to work.Leave a comment:
