    Nice rover blueboy

Tell me more about the conversion of the series to the defender 110 frame and drivetrain?
    I am trying to figure out a similar goal for a 67 11a 109 carawagon 3 door..
Many say the 110 swap is "alot of work" can you share your insights?

    Thanks,
    Tim

awsome looking build. ( maybe you should just create a website with everything you have about it, and give my addiction something to do for a few hours )

Like I said, beautiful job, Colby. A very clean and well executed conversion. You should be proud of yourself!

I'll add to the thread and the Mercedes powered theme...Here's my 109 that should be done in a couple weeks. 5-cyl turbo Benz, NP435, high-ratio transfer case, Toyota e-locker diffs, 30-spline axles, power steering.

                  Tim,

unlike some of the folks on this board, I don't have the know-how to do something like MercedesRover with a Series so I had ECR perform the work for me when I was living in Tokyo at the time.

part of the process can be seen here: http://www.eastcoastrover.com/Thompson109.html

I can tell you it is a fantastic combination and we now have had Blueboy for 7 years.

We just returned from a 2,800 mile 10 day trip to P.E.I./New England.

The Rover has been to many places in the US on and off-highway although I don't push it too hard on the trails.

Let me know if you have any specific questions that I might be able to answer for you.

                  Thx,

                  Jaime

Thanks Bear.....I do have tons of photos of the build but should probably save those for another thread and keep this one a place for people to show their pride and joy.

Thanks again Jim, couldn't have done it without your adapter and answers to my "daily dozen" questions over the past 18 months!!

Anyone interested in this conversion just needs to visit seriestrek.com and check out the 109 build..... many good photos.

This last turbo motor cost me two six-packs of Dos XX's. Well, I drank three of them before I left so actually it was only nine beers.

The 616 engine before that cost me a case of Bud and I didn't even get any.

Hunt around and you can find these things under rocks. These cars rust pretty quickly and good motors are easy and cheap to find. And as the cars rust and the engines last forever, there isn't much demand for them from the junk yards. Even if you have to go buy one don't expect to spend more than $500 or so for it.

This is what I am currently running around in. It’s an early preproduction S1, originally fitted with an 8hp motor that went south. Refitted with a 22hp.

Uses: Light recovery work, towing, yard duty.

Mods: Changed the gearing to raise the stock speed 30% in all gears. (Accidentally dropping the clutch in top gear will bring the front tires a foot off the ground.) (Mows 3' tall grass without bogging! ) (Neighbors begin to complain at 2-1/2'. )

Here's mine- 1960 SII Station Wagon. 2 year resto almost complete. Started out as poppy red non-runner with a nice, straight tub- changed color to pastel green. Had paint shop add flattening agent to ppg paint to get correct "sheen". Lots of NOS parts. All stock except for Rocky Mtn parabolics, Roverdrive, bumper overriders, Odyssey battery, Late style "antiburst" latches, liftgate/tailgate and probably some other minor details. Upholstery shop snafu is the only thing keeping her from being 100% done. Final touches- Brownchurch rack and Hella driving lights. Haven't figured out how to upload real photos yet- so unfortunately you'll need to get out your magnifying glasses!
