    jac04,

In post #311, bottom image. It appears that there is some type of inner wheel well panel, painted black, at the back of the wheel well. Is this a factory fitted panel? It seems it would keep debris and moisture out of the rear crossmember and wiring.

    Thank you

      Bud-
Yes, there is a splash guard mounted there to protect the wiring & rear lights. It is a factory panel.

          congratulations

Jeff - The pictures say it all - Great job. And thanks for all your posts. 23,000 page hits certainly suggests others have enjoyed watching your progress too. Can't believe you stayed with it so religiously. Assume you'll never part with this one like your last? I'm sure they'll be a l-o-n-g line of customers if you ever do.

Thanks. I hope everyone has enjoyed this project. It's been a lot of work - most of it not so enjoyable at the time, but hopefully the end product is worth it.

As far as selling it goes, I thought I would never sell my last one. I'm beginning to realize that this vehicle is just like my last one. I seem to have time to do the restoration (although most hours spent are between 8pm and 1am), but I don't see myself having much time to enjoy it when it's done.
So, if you know anyone looking for one of the nicest Lightweights around, please PM me. I can have it ready for X-Mas delivery.

I hope you are only joking! After all that quality work, you HAVE to make time to enjoy it!

Congratulations, looks even better than your last one ... which by the way, I will not sell.

Thanks for the compliment Ivar, but you definitely have the better Rover. Don't worry, I'm OK with that!

^^^ I haven't had a good laugh like that in a while. Thanks!!

But, on a serious note, the fire extinguisher & I have formed a close bond throughout this project. It has been there for me since day 1, and it has been by my side no matter what. It has never said "No" to any part of this project. Even when things weren't looking too good, it never uttered a word of discouragement. Maybe we can all learn a little from the fire extinguisher.

I started working on the headlights. I thought I would share this, especially for you military guys.

It's an AEU2465 headlight assembly. Our hosts had one in clearance for around $75. It's got a few paint chips, but who cares, the normal price is $883 :

You got a sweet deal on that assembly. If you have any parts left over I may want to buy them from you. One of the flat head retainer screws is broken off on mine so the assembly is not held in all three locations.
I haven't spent a lot of time looking but it appears this part is not easy to find.

                            ...some bad news...

My pass side fuel tank is leaking. Arrgh!!!! It looks great from the inside & outside. It appears to be weeping from somewhere between the tank and the mounting 'cradle' that is spot welded to the bottom.
I'll start another post asking about repair alternatives, seeing how a replacement is $400.

However, the front end sheetmetal is all fitted and it looks great:

The Rover Gods noticed that you put that fire extinguisher away.

                                Is that some smoke?

or. . . . maybe the fire extinguisher is taking the pics now.
