Today, I repaired the brake adjuster, It was spinning freely. It was peculiar. A small annular section had separated free around the adjuster. It seems that originally it was assembled in a press tool where a square hole was present in the backplate......anyway.....
Cut off old cam and post:
The remains. I freshened up the teeth on the cam while it was out.
I made a small piece to repair the original hole:
I fitted it:
I cleaned it up:
I set the distance to match a good one. I triple checked that the cam was facing the right way:
From the other side:
I cut off the bolt to length and welded it solid:
I touched up the paint it:

A vendor I trust told me the kit was not really correct for series ones and was a piece of crap that he would not put on his own car. Also, I only needed to repair one. .. so I fixed it.Comment

Added it to the family: 72 Ser III. She's rough but I can see past it all. I couldn't be any happier this weekend.

I don't know, but it must have been magical!
Yesterday I fixed my backfiring, stalling, and idling problems, so I thought all would be well today. Went to start it this AM..........nothing. Lights and stuff worked, but nada at the starter, not even clicking. Tried jumping, looked for loose wires or connections, checked fuses....nothing. Unhooked the battery terminal again (2nd time) and it started right up.
It's Lucas Magic I tell 'ya!!!Comment

never easy
Well Thought I'd complete my dual brake conversion today. There have been about 2 extra weeks ordering, waiting, reordering correct parts, tidying up and taking care of some bulkhead issues, recondition clutch tower, rebuild master... while fenders were off.
Started with the clutch a real PITA to get at bleeder. Well the bleeder valve loosened OK but proptly decided to strip the threads. Now remove drivers side floor, tunnel cover and bulkhead cowl to get at the slave.
Yup, stripped bad, back to ordering parts, wait.......... This job has been one of those all day suckersTHING 1 - 1973 88 SIII - SOLD
