I'll try to get some pics tonight or tomorrow night. The 2522 CV joint appears to be a little shorter on the splined end of the shaft that is part of the CV. The rest of it appears to be identical. I'm hoping what I've read about just using a bolt and washer combination in the end of it instead of the circlip will work.
What did you do to your Rover today?

Beach trials today. Put the tires down to 15 psi and drove the 109 out to the west end of the island today (Smith's Point) and it was awesome. She has always dominated the sand, but with the new BFG's it didn't even break a sweat.

Masonater: Do you ever take this truck to Martha's Vineyard? I saw one much like it in Edgartown last summer (or summer before that - can't remember). Tried to chase the guy down, with no success.Comment

Didnt dig the bumps...
Went for a 100 mile trip yesterday after adjusting a few things. Ripped both rear shock mounts clean off the rear axle. Didnt hit anything huge, just overall bumpiness on the roads from the winter. Its never over! No, its not a Jeep...update, actually it is for right now. I am temporarily Rover-less.

Today, I got a start on getting the Gearbox/Transfer case together. I have to order a few small pieces to finish it up. I need the distance piece for the front of the layshaft and I need the castle nut for the front of the layshaft. I have not got the selectors in yet. I have the transfer box partially assembled too.
Bearing for freewheel housing:
Freewheel installed in housing:
Test fit of the layshaft after installing the first/reverse gear:
New race/bearing in rear cover:
About to start building the mainshaft:
Rear bearing is on.
Rear half of the mainshaft together:
3rd gear synchromesh ring in place:
Mainshaft and layshaft in place ready for Bellhousing:

Thanks LuckyJoe,
You know how it is. Some days feel like progress and others not so much. I do not have an OD but I would like one. Now is the right time to put one on if I could find one at a price I could afford. (Although I did not look hard)
That rear cover was a story in itself. My gearbox was filled with oily mud and watery oil when I got it. It would have been easier to take it apart with a cutting torch.
The race/sleeve was pitted badly:
I turned down a 3/4" nut to fit:
I TIG welded it in:
I took a piece of allthread and welded a nut on it:
I used the assembly as a jack to remove the bearing sleeve:
Easy:
I used a penny to protect the housing:
New sleeve ready to fit:
Pressing it in:
All done..... and I still do not have an O/D.Comment
