I went to a local mechanic to ask about my output shaft problem and he pointed out an old warn 8274 that he took off a customers rig in perfect working order. I got really excited and said i wanted it. "100 bucks and its yours" he said, now i need one of Ikes sweet bumpers to mount it. I want to replace the cable with amsteel blue as well

I bought a chainsaw winch for the Rover so if i need to winch backwards I can. they will pull 6000 lbs straight so if I use 1 pulley I will be able to pull the Rover anywhere. It actually comes with more cable than my warn winch on the front of my Rover. It will also double as a moose recovery tool

Masonater, you better get that bad boy bolted up, because I may have to call you this summer if I get stuck out on the Coate!

In all seriousness, I am considering bringing my IIA out to the island for a week this summer. I know the oversand permits are rediculously expensive for something like this, but I would really like to drive it out to the lighthouse, and perhaps out onto the coate. Do you feel like rounding up some locals for a Land Rover event?

Stomper im in for sure. I think the sticker rate is $125, maybe more for you wash-ashores I think they may offer some sort of day pass this year...send me a pm with your plans. there are dozens of awesome rovers here during the summer. Ive talked to a few owners over the years about something like that. Most just seem like they want to give me a dollar and shew me away.

I just got my 109 insured today and will be getting plates tomorrow! she has been off the road for close to 5 years, aside from the occasional moors sneaky drive. Im mid process of sealing my 2 military tanks with the POR 15 kit right now. Once that is done and a few other things get buttoned up, its cruising time.

Last year I rented a Jeep for 2 days on the island, and I drove out to the lighthouse. What a beautiful and peaceful area! The whole time all I could think about is how I wished I was driving my Rover. We were warned to not go out on the Coate, because tow bills are rediculous WHEN you get stuck, not IF. If I had a few others with me, I would absolutely love to do this trip!

I need to get the reservations to get the truck out and back lined up, i'm thinking sometime in mid August. I am going on a trip into the North Maine Woods in late June, so I have to spread out the trips so my wife doesn't kill me!

That picture makes the $125 oversand permit worth it!

Popped the other railko bush out to go to the machinist. Getting some bling liners put in there in place of the standard fiber material. Got a local machinist to make some up to fit in the stage1 railko bushing. Had them made as a 1 piece cup instead of the cylindrical liner and separate disc that goes in the bottom. Went to pick it up and found he had machined it out of Carbon Fiber. Had the swivel pins drilled for a grease fitting to keep them lubed up.

I can post pics tonight from home. There were other mods I did around the same time. I went with a spring over axle mod and made all new steering stuff. The tip swivel pins are custom made and pressed into steel steering arms that bolt to the top of the swivel so all my steering is above the axle and the springs.

@Firemanshort Believe me when I tell you that I paid through the nose for that stuff. The sad part is that two days later I found the stock stage 1 railko bushings in the UK for 15 quid each.

                                Slorocco,

I'd appreciate pic's of the swivel pin grease ports. I'm about to rebuild my front axle and install front discs.
