Dizzy likes to unseat itself when I tighten the collar. Wrestled with that for a bit.
Installed a jump seat in the back. Will tackle the starter motor in a couple of days. Supposed to be warm and sunny here tomorrow, so I'll be on the road!
What did you do to your Rover today?

working on getting the S1 ready for the road. Spring is peaking it's head. Removed the radiator, all hoses, fan belt, generator, and working on the starter. Radiator had a little leak, going to a radiator shop. Sending the generator and starter for a little maintenance at a starter shop. New belt and hoses also. See a pile of other stuff I could do, but fighting getting in to deep.

Today I swapped out my rebuilt power steering pump (Scout II power steering conversion).
This makes my third rebuilt power steering pump in 2 years. First rebuild developed a noisy bearing within a few months. Second one got put in last fall and had a leak. Tightening hoses didn't help. Finally after a good cleaning & laying underneath for a while I discovered it leaked where the pump went into the reservoir. Snow happened soon thereafter. Lucas power steering stop leak didn't help and as it continued to stay cold the pump continued to leak unabated. I must have 2 gallons of power steering fluid on the driveway. It warmed up to fifty so I swapped the pump today. No apparent leaks or unusual noises so far. So I hope that the third pump is a charm. I was thinking of power washing the driveway but with nights below freezing I don't want to risk leaving water in the power washer. Besides we are expecting more snow in a couple days. The rebuilt pumps came from NAPA. Unfortunately I'm getting quick at power steering pump swaps in my truck.
Hopefully one more project completed.Leave a comment:

Installed 3 out of 4 parabolic springs and mounted my new Power steering pump. Now the tricky part of getting the new column to connect to it a semi professional looking way. Beast is really starting to come together. Pics to follow when she is sitting back on the springs.Leave a comment:

Replaced my right rear hub seal (should have done them when I swapped axles!), then stripped-down my spare 109 rear axle. I now have S2 hubs, backing plates, stub axles, half shafts and diff ready for cleaning and storage-prep, then into the parts stash…Leave a comment:

Began stripping layers of paint off my tailgate, hopefully I can get some top-down time in this summer.
It's beginning to warm up, soon the engine will be coming out for new freeze plugs!!! (and rebuild fuel pump, and install OD, and, and, and. . . .geez.)Leave a comment:

Busy Bee tonight.
Rewired a pair of Lucas off road lights. They were already mounted on the bumper but I unplugged them because the previous owner did a crappy wiring job.
Installed new ignition switch
Made a headlight adjusting board per the manual and did a proper headlight adjustment. Not spot on but much better then before.Leave a comment:

Didn't really do it today, but did just finish up a pair of rock sliders for my 109 military framed 3-door...........thanks to Ike for the design ideas. About a weeks worth of cutting, grinding, shaping, and fitment.

I might add that when off roading I have seen willow branches get caught between the slider and the fender, I think the front and rear should also attach to the inside of the fenders, not for support but to avoid anything getting caught in between. A simple strip of metal across with some self tapping screws would suffice, better yet welded to the slider and bolted through the fender.Last edited by busboy; 02-19-2013, 03:47 PM.Leave a comment:
