Stopped the carb leak last night by cleaning the needle. Needs some adjusting since its not running 100% still, but did an easy 40 miles on the freeway.

Tonight I drained the radiator and replaced the lower hose, which was leaking a bit. Looks like the genuine hose did the trick. Have a good weekend, all!

I replaced the head-to-manifold gasket because it had broken and there was an exhaust leak, leaving a flutter and loss of power. After I got it all back together, the puffing and chirping was coming from the front pipe to manifold connection. Got back under there and fitted it better (or properly). All is great now, except my carb. Next!

Got rid of the puffing/chirping, and the smoke seems to have subsided (burn-off maybe)... But now my Rochester carb is leaking like crazy!

Got it all back together...running...but I likely have an exhaust leak somewhere. Very consistent puff/chirp and a bit of smoke after about 90 seconds of idle. I suspect I may not have the front pipe tied into the manifold properly.

Very good advice, thanks! I checked about three years back in the forum and found this was definitely good practice.

I plan on using a 2007 jeep wrangler 4 door LHD gearbox. I spent time looking and in teh US for a RHD drive this seems to be the best shot.

Nice. What are you using for a steering box?

These modification have been put off because everything was fine. I flopped the car and decided to make these changes. While off the road . (

Which stainless system did you get? If a NRP, PM me for some installation tips.

Last time I did this job was when I did a frame off and you are right about how easy it is at that point. The new system is full stainless and looks like it will seal well to the manifold but will not go in without raising the motor/transmission off their mounts. I guess I know what I'm doing tonight!
