Today I dropped the fuel tank so I could install a receiver I bought from our hosts a year and half ago. Once I had it out, which was a PITA, I decided I should give the crossmembers and frame a cleaning and coating of POR so out came the buckets of hot water and degreaser etc. Nothing like sitting in puddles of slowly freezing water straining to clean and then paint. Didn't get the hitch in today but no rush as I need to order new bushings for the gas tank anyways.

Got 4 out of 5 wheels sandblasted today (ran out of daylight), and one gas tank. The wheels came out really nice now i cant decide if i should powder coat them satin black or desert tan? The 109 will be desert tan but im thinking black would be cool. Put another top coat of extreme chassis black on the frame as well as bumper and a gas tank. Im hoping to actually put something back together next week.

I had powder coated my Lightweight wheels black, on a light tan body color... I wished after that I had done tan instead, as the black washed out detail below I found, as well since the wheel wells were black also. Take a look at my link to see the black on tan to make your own judgement.

        cheers,

Took out the generator and voltage regulator, installed a Delco 10SI 65 amp alternator. She fired right up and the battery is getting a nice charge now.

No, but Photoshop can do the same, just messing with the Exposure Bracketing features, using 2 or more pictures taken with a DSLR at alternate exposure levels. Here this was done with Photomatix...

                    Pulled the engine

My son and I pulled the engine of 43 years. My/our 1st! 2.25L engine came out fairly easy. The prep work to get it out, marking all lines, cables, etc. took a good bit of time. Then it poured rain and I mean rain! Engine is still on the hoist as we could not get it into another vehicle, so that will wait till tomorrow when we take it to a rebuild shop for evaluation and overview, then rebuild. I have my list of upgrades and goodies to put into the engine. Looking for a long term reliable engine with a lot more pep that what I have now, which is none. The old engine needs a facelift, kind of like people.

Today was a big day, i couldn't get my crank pulley off so i decided to do something that would releve my frustration. I finally got to put some parts back on the frame that i finished painting this morning. today was a good day for the rover! now im going to get a 6 pack, drink the whole thing and stare at it some more.
