Adjusted my points, in the process I must have bumped the wire from the condenser to the distributor housing and it broke...but not very apparent. After about 2 hours of frustration I found it. Evidently it was crimped too tight at the factory (dizzy is 3 months old aftermarket) so It's a good thing I'm clumsy as this was a breakdown waiting to happen. She's back up and purring again.
What did you do to your Rover today?

After buying my first Series Land Rover 2-1/2 years ago I finally brought (trailered) it home after it sat at my Moms for 1-1/2. I started filling fluids and they started running out the TC almost as fast as I was putting it in. Upon further inspection found the front and rear output seals were shot along with the front output shaft. So I pulled the TC and started tearing it down only to find that it was going to cost me more in parts than to buy a "good" used one. Found a used one from Ray at Rover Drive and it's been sitting on the garage floor since I brought it home from Canada about 10 months ago. The plan is to replace the seals and gaskets, which I bought about a month ago. I finally got the thing up on the work bench yesterday and got the front and rear output seals replaced.
For the last couple of weeks I've been working towards replacing the floor wells and while removing the right side I discovered the lower door post was shot, haven't got to the left side yet.How come dumb stuff always seems so smart when your doing it?

Sadly I only had time for a little pat on the rear quater as I left this morning. We got snow this weekend that turned to ice so I'm glad the Rover is tucked away in the garage right now awating new fuel filters. I would have replaced them this weekend but it was too dang cold in the garage- time to get a little ceramic heater and some insulated Dickies.64 IIa 88

put in a new-to-me final drive gear and transmission back cover - finally got the rover back on the road after the OD failed.
First thing I did after my test drive was to find a huge snow pile and see how high I could climb up it. Inner kid got the best of me.Comment

Fixed a radiator leak on the way to Enchanted Rock. What a beautiful day in the hill country. My navigator, (daughter number one), a college student home from Vermont for a few days notes journeying in a series rover is an adventure.1982 SIII 109 RHD petrol project.Comment

Yesterday I topped up all of the oils in my 109 (again, did it last week but the trans oil is disappearing somewhere). I also removed the slightly bent 8 blade military fan and replaced it with a recent straight ebay purchase. Today I am just pushing the 2 feet of fresh snow with the old J**p plow truck. This snow doesn't want to plow, it is just packing up in front of the blade.....

Bled the Clutch system again, seems like that is becoming an every five day thing. Cursed at the inadiquate heat for my 16 mile drive home. Went off roading on one of the local trails to see if she was up to digging her way through 13"of virgin snow. Failed me not. Drove home and discovered that my parking spot is a little steep so I'll have to adjust the parking brake this morning once it warms up above 10 deg. Try and figure out why clutch keeps gaining air in system.Comment
