He'll be thrilled to hear he has to deliver another one pretty soon. My truck after a few short hours of work last night:

Had to drag the Rover home on a hook today. Get to rebuild the carb tomorrow.....

Got the right side footwell installed. I also expanded the brake pedal hole on the left foot well as well as fabbing up an additional stiffening plate for said footwell.
I am still waiting for the brown truck to show up with the lower door post for the left side. I also nicked one of the brake lines with the grinder while dressing some of my sloppy welds.

Over the weekend I replaced my spark plugs and plug wires. Also I fixed my reverse detente spring.It was a pretty successful weekend.

I pulled the rear output flange in order to clean and refurbish my tranny brake. At first look did not even find a seal..perhaps why it is leaking into the drum and brake assembly, but it may be rotten/chewed up/disintegrated somewhere :-)
Next - remove the whole package that contains the pads and pistons. Oh - then time to inventory check all bolts, springs, seals for a RN order. What a mess - but fun.

Replaced the blown head gasket that failed on the way home from the winter romp. Nice warm day today.

Repainted my Land Rover Badge

I took off the Land Rover oval from the rear of my truck and repainted it. I have no idea why this bothered me so much and I forced myself to do this. There are many more pressing mechanical issues for me to worry about. Never the less - it was done....

Yesterday I drove a new one home, 1974 SIII. It was a 150 mile trip up the nothway. Truck ran great maintained 65 except on the steepest hills through the Dak's. Parked it in a clean garage and nearly leak free except the OD vent, what's new I think they all seem to do that.
Will have alot of things to do today..

Yesterday - "fixed" heater (heres hopin'), some dimmer switch and headlight work. Broke open the Belleview only to find oil in the motor area.

Today - Clutch Master Cylinder. Hopefully that takes care of the issue.

13 hours total this weekend.

I spent some time yesterday setting the timing on my 88. I also replaced the vacuum hose from the carb to the dist. Makes a big difference when the hose isn't full of holes. Huh, who knew?

Also put some new brake pads on the front of the 110. Must say, it's nice working on the trucks now that the weather has warmed up a bit. A balmy 10c here the past couple of days.

Made the trip to CT on Saturday to pick up the hard top from jac04. Thanks again Jeff.

His lightweight is even more impressive in person! I was daydreaming about a frame-up restore all the way back home.

Glass....

I somehow blew out the rear door glass on my 109 while driving off road at moderate speed the other day...I hit a series of holes that apparently were perfectly spaced apart and just deep enough to create a vibration my glass just couldnt handle...The unfortunate aspect to this is that it was heated glass...Not cheap.

So today was spent installing the replacement and boosting my door seal rain repelling abilities with some low profile window insulation that I actually mounted on the door side...Its looks like a factory finish and not one draft or drip in the truck (hose tested)...Bingo.

I had a minor "prince of darkness" on the new rover. Front right driving light not working. Checked bulb OK, repaired cracked plastic lense, not quite working correctly but staying on. Meanwhile headlights not working on front right low. Re did all connections all OK. Made one set of side markers from the parts on truck, parts from my other SIII and one part from Yank (thanks). Decided to check for the bulb type on the Hella headlights that came with truck, can of worms, reconditioned headlight bucket again parts from both trucks gave me one servicable unit. Passenger side in much better shape. Reassemble headlight / rewire / done with lights.

Swapped out Series II suffix a transmission for rebuilt Series IIa unit. Almost done- just need to adjust clutch slave, fill box with 75w 90, reinstall the seat box, tunnel cover and floors. Found a really nice Snap-On 15/16" open end box wrench lodged in between the gas tank and outrigger from the guy who previously worked on the Rover. At first I thought I'd keep it- but he's a nice guy so I guess I'll send it back to him. Hopefully good karma will come out of this and I'll enjoy a trouble free transmission for many years!
