Re-tapped the galvy out of the nut inserts in the bulkhead and installed steering column and pedal boxes. I also used my daily recommended dose of Neversieze on everything possible.

Installed new battery at the store. According to my six year old and now known by the entire parking lot, "We're stuck here forever!!" and "Dad, just call a mechanic" or "Guess we'll have to call a cab". Now I need a longer ground cable. The store did not have the one with the posts in the right position, but the battery tray has plent of room to adjust the battery to get the - post close enough.Stacy

What did you do to your Rover today?
Decided today was the day to replace 'warm' ammeter with Voltmeter.
Opened dash for first time. Mistake. Big mistake. Found 14 dead wire ends hanging in midair....no ideas if they were hooked to anything or not.
Requires removal of rest of dash facia.
Mistake #2.
More of the same. In the following search I found lotsa goodies to play with(fix). Lotsa worn out wires/switches/connections, and about 20 lbs of useless wire(removed), unconnected ground wires. Both fuse boxes shot, and repaired with banjo string and floor wax.Battery ground shot(terminal end). Spent 9 hours on it, and got brighter headlights so far. At least another 9 to go. The terminals connecting the ammeter were probably original, and absolutely frightnening to look at. No wonder they were HOT...poor things. They had to be within minutes of just welding the whole bailawick together!
Started at noon....wrapped at midnight. 3 hours for dinner..needed it. I am a porky american, and it's very wearying to squirm into the necessary positions to work on the half removed dashes, and the fuseboxes(alone, so una to remove the hood). If only I was 30 again, and 150lbs!!! The only reason I'm still sane, is that I'm retired. Should have just used a hedge trimmer to get the wires out, and replaced with a harness, but that's not much of a challenge. This is...and it's real fun to find an 'AHA' type thing like the bad terminal ends, and loose grounds.Whatta hoot.

Over the weekend I took it rock-crawling for the first time...not a good idea. Three new dents, the one on the roof (don't ask) so deep it has caused my headliner to sag! On the 100 mile ride back home through the the VA mountains at "high" speed it vapor locked after a fuel stop, thought I had that fixed a while back. Oh well. At least I it got there, did it and got home.04 Disco, Gone-Disco died & so did mine

I opened the rear door to the truck and saw that nobody has installed the overdrive yet.

Hey, my OD is still sitting in the back of the Rover too. Of course the Transfer case is sitting on the workbench in the garage with new seals and gaskets. I need dig the transmission break out of the parts bin and dismantle it so I can start scraping the oil off of it before going any further.How come dumb stuff always seems so smart when your doing it?

I removed the rear door spare tire carrier. Existing door bottom pretty rusty. I had some aluminum so I cut a piece slightly oversized from the rotted door piece and riveted it in to cover the holes until I replace the door. It was late Sunday and I wanted to get some paint on it. I had some Case 935 older farmall cub white paint which I hit it with. I pimped my IIa out to an outdoor catalog product shoot. I have a friend that is a photographer and he called me to rent my Rover for a catalog shoot in April. The tough part is that he's shooting the fall catalog and is trying to find a location that won't look too spring. He took some shots after I got it and apparently his boss loved the idea of using it as a prop. I'll get something like $100, probably as a gift cert to the company but I don't really care as it will cool to see it in the pic's.
This a good motivator to get the new seats order and installed as well as either getting a new tank or getting the old one cleaned out.64 IIa 88

I dove into my Rover, took off the fender and a bunch of other stuff and didn't stop til I had the cylinder head off. - see my post about "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly".
Now the decision process - at least I know that I don't have to find a place to check out and see if my head is good!. . . . . . cause it ain't

While waiting for my head to be checked and rebuilt I spent some time yesterday cleaning areas that I won't have access to for (I hope) quite some time. Today I cleaned up/re-routed wiring in the engine bay to make it a little neater.
At the moment I am not going to take the time to unhook every last wire so it by no means will look like the wiring that some folks on this forum have done. I'll wait for a more complete overhaul to sink my teeth into that.
