Trevor, are you really trying to make your LR3 more Series like by fitting loose tie rod ends and faulty bonnet switch?

Your LR3 was entirely too reliable, so I understand you wanting to make it more like an older Rover.

Actually it was very hard to get a hold of tan let alone desert flat tan powder. Just so happens i know a guy who is a salesman for Teknicote? (spelling?) in CT and he sent me a few pounds freebie. Ive been going hard and done every part that i can, probably over 100 by now from the rover right down to the nuts and bolts so ive become pretty good at getting a great finish. Eastwood sells the gun and accessories as well as lots of powder. I must say i am obsessed with the whole process. PM me if you have any questions, i could go on all day about it.

Also got my rear crossmember fitted and welded up today. Now the frame is just about done, maybe one more day, then its eastwood chassis black and some waxoyl time.

I have a powder coater so I'm curious about any part numbers, color codes, etc that you have for the desert flat tan powder. The powder you have, any markings on the container indicating a product code, etc that I could use to order some for myself?

how are you prepping your parts for the powder? Are you just bead blasting to a clean surface or using some sort of chemical stripper and then a wash?

for the nasty parts i clean them in the parts washer (mineral spirits) then use my bead blaster cabinet to get back to bare metal. It depends on what part im coating but usually just go right to spraying powder then bake in the oven and thats pretty much it. I take special care to tape off machined surfaces and plug threaded holes because it is a real pain to re do it all (very time consuming but worth every second). If the part is painted i dunk it in the nastiest chemicals i have ever seen or smelled. Its some stuff called Chemdip and according to autozone folks it has now been changed to be more environmentally friendly (not as good). So im glad I got 10 gallons of it and a harbor freight parts washer to hold it. I used this for my wheels that seemed to have 4 or 5 layers of different color paint on them. Chemdip took care of all that. Im also careful not to get any oils from my hands on the parts just before powder. Things that have been oiled in the past (hub, swivels, pretty much everything) require a pre cook in the oven at 400 for approx 20 min to cook out the grime. Learned that the hard way. One of these days ill get all my before and after pictures online, the difference is amazing.

What are you using for the powder coat setup? I have been looking at buying an old oven off of craigslist (there seem to be an abundant supply), and a powder coat kit from Eastwood.

I have the single voltage gun from eastwood and got an oven off craigs list that was far too nice to be used to powder coating but the price was right.

I installed the rear cargo cover in my LR3, got it off E-bay $100. delivered!
Also installed a K&N air filter, Average milage went from 14.8-9 to 16.2 (so far) I'm pretty happy about that. I commute 20 miles one way, some city, mostly stop and go on the highway.

Next up are rear rubber floor mats, then the final "mod" (lol) will be the rear cargo area floor mat. Not sure which one I will get. I want whatever it is to have LR logos on it, but those go for $150-$400. The "no-name" brand is $119. right now at Atlantic British.
