No matter what the vehicle. Make sure to watch that K&N filter and keep after it. They do breath better but they don't filter any better. You need to make sure there is fresh oil in the element so that it catches the fine bits of atmosphere. The flip side of this is, your engine will suck in the dirt you paid so much to keep out.

I run a K&N too, so I'm not really against them. Just make sure to keep up the maintenance.

Today I finished all the welding and grinding on the frame, now its time for coal slag blasting, primer and paint then I finally get to start putting it back together. I also powder coated the door hinges desert tan and did the pedal boxes satin black. Im almost running out of stuff to powder coat.

Well today I shod the 109 wagon with a new set of BFG MTs and made some progress on pulling the gearbox. I lost reverse gear a couple weeks ago so it will need to go under the knife.

Put the new hub bearings in. Bought an inexpensive 12-ton shop press, and so now no more hammering in the races - all went in smoothly and in about 5 seconds each. Makes me wish I'd bought a press a long time ago.

blasted the frame since it was not freezing today, turned all the snow around me into black mud after i was done. Coal slag is some nasty stuff! Found some more minor rust ill have to fix up and then its paint time.

Finished up the brakes and replacing some hoses on the truck. Replaced the hangers for the exhaust. Truck is still running hot so it looks like I need a water pump.

Put a coat of primer on about half of the frame. i used a 2 inch brush so it took for ever and the fumes got too intense, i'll save the rest for tomorrow. Also got both axels primed. later today I bought Harbor Freights HVLP turbine spray gun for 75 bucks, we will see how it goes, anythings better than more brushing.

after pondering the best way to deal with my chassis problem I have decided to start by sandblasting it and seeing what there is to work with. If its a rusty pile then I'll decide on the replacement. If its workable I just repair and repaint. I've been around most of the chassis with a ball peen hammer and except for a few spots everything sounds solid enough to work with.
