Victory! Today I got the two remaining bushings out but ended up putting a notch or two with the sawzall. Jbwelding the scars overnight and will get up early and get everything buttoned up. I was going to replace my swivel ball seals but noticed pitting on both so decided to wait on that job.

I'll break form and post after myself, at least it is a week and a half later. Decided before I pulled the truck into the garage tonight I'd quickly adjust my steering stop. My running lamp burned out when I turned it on and I should have taken that as a sign. Then the head sheared off the stop bolt with almost no force, thankfully the lock nut was an easy removal so I have some meat to work with, but getting the stud out is not an operation I want to conduct with a flashlight.

Started my '66 after sitting since January. Hand primed the pump, used the crank a few times without the ignition to get some fuel into the cylinders and then turned on the ignition, started right up.

Now to get some miles under it in the next 2 weeks! Then decisions on whether I want to get it down to Florida to work on it over the fall and winter.

                Relief...

I reluctantly decided I was going to address my steering box leak, I had previously filled it with 90wt oil and the following day saw what appeared to be most of it on the ground.
I decided to try STP as I have no intention on removing the box for repair at this time. To my amazement, when I pulled the fill plug the box was still full of oil. It must of overflowed when I was filling it. Wow talk about relief.

So today I just started her up, cleaned the inside of the windows, and smiled.

Spent a good part of two days, off and on, removing the fuel tank from my 110. Huge pain in the butt. Today I dropped the right side tank on the 88. Was a 15 minute job. Score one for the Series 3.

recently I have been having trouble with either the ground, power lead, or starter solenoid and today I used the hand crank to start it

                      Front Diff Pinion Oil Seal

Tonight, I replaced the front diff pinion oil seal. The old oil seal was a real mess - a lot worse than I thought it was. It looked like old dried out show leather. No wonder it was leaking.

But, since I worked on the Rover, that means that I need to go to the hardware store and buy some bolts and a cotter pin tomorrow. (sigh)

Tonight I finally fitted a diesel return line and second switch over valve to my aux. fuel tank in the Series 3. I figure I should now have a non stop cruising range of just over 800 km.

Yeah, non stop... doubt my backside will be able to last that long.

Painted the rear door and rear side panels...Installed the rear stop light, flashers. Need to go buy some new stainless hardware tomorrow to fit the back up light and the liscence plate light...and also some Ø3/16" aluminum rivet for the Land rover oval plate.

Ha. My SIIA, petrol 2.25, has a range of about 180 miles but I have to get out and rest my back/legs/ass/ears every 120 miles.

Headed up to NH for a week on a lake, so I decided to wrap my exhaust and install some insulation under the footwell to make the 3 hours on the highway a bit more bearable. The wrap went well, the sheet metal panel I fabbed up for under the floor came out ok, and I used some thermal insulation on that between the panel and the floor- that cut the heat down in the spot, but the real heat is still coming from where the down pipe comes within 3" of the inner wheel/foot well (2.6 engine). I am tired so I cut up some thermal insulation and put it under the floor mat and up under the pedals, and use some lovely duct tape to hold it in place. If the taped on stuff helps tomorrow I'll build another panel backed with insulation and install it in the wheel well some time.
