I'll get you all pics tonight but you're probably going to be disappointed. I had the drilled staight through the center from top to bottom. In the stock configuration this would not do you any good 'cause it would just squirt out the bottom hole in the railko bush into the swivels. I'm using a solid bottom bushing inside the railko bush to hold the grease in the cup.

    Pics coming soon

I clear coated some engine parts and cleaned up some studs and nuts for the intake and exhaust manifolds.
I also painted the exhaust manifold with VHT ceramic paint. It is in the oven cooking right now.

i pulled my head today to see what was causing the lack of compression and underpowered feeling, just as suspected it was the head gasket, huge blow between cylinders 2 and 3. When I pulled the head I also discovered a massive crack in my exhaust manifold. I'll post again later with my progress throughout the week.

              rims

I just got 4 "new to me" rims, they need wire brushing, rust & paint removal - then a new spray of Rustoleum Almond to bring them back into "real purdy like" condition...on that today!

while i'm waiting on parts for the 88 i decided to investigate the throttle linkage issue on the 109. For some reason when everything was hooked up the accelerator pedal only had about an inch of travel, it turns out the arm on the bellcrank assembly was on upside-down, once righted it made all the difference in the world! Took it for a test drive around the block, and while i was fiddling with the linkage apparently the vacuum line to the brake booster came off, causing a thunderous backfire to split the muffler open, its never over with a rover....

                    A few small things

Got the Hi Jack lift on the back last week. Put the Tuffy and the Trakker seat in today. I had ordered two Trakker seats but only got one...next container to RN should have my other one. They are a noticeable difference compared to the low back seats!

wow - those tracker seats are nice. Do they just sit in the same way as the Exxmor seats?

Are you selling the old deluxe seats? I need the two seat bottoms!! Let me know.

                        Fiddled around.
                        1. Took a ride out to RN to pick up some parts.
                        2. Fitted new shift/tranfer lever and Transmisson brake boots.
                        3. Adjusted the brakes.
                        4. Got worried about my swivel ball seal.
                        5. Found out my old rims are of two different widths

I primed up my front and rear axle tubes.
                          I primed my sump.
I welded up some of front bumper number 1 (I am fabbing 2)
Then I ran out of gas and had to drive 35 miles each way for a bottle of 75/25. I will try again tomorrow.

i drove it some more today, hit its first mud puddle. I heard a something small like a nut or washer fall off and bounce down the road while going about 30. I'll have to investigate in the morning. Then noticed even after POR-15ing the military tanks, one is leaking still! Gas is ever so slowly oozing out of just one of the small rivets that surround the drain plug, major bummer after all that work. I also slid the starter off enough to spray WD-40 all over the shaft because it was not engaging the bendix and it worked. At least i fixed something today.

I came into work today (in my DD) and saw my Series parked there!!!! It's been almost two years since the engine blew and a friend towed it away to rebuild it in his spare time. Although I've been working with him on it it's been a few months since he had time to get back to it and he must have pulled an all-nighter to finish the job. Unfortunatly he cracked the exhaust manifold so I called our hosts today for a new one. I should be back in the slow lane by Tuesday!

WD-40 will be a temporary fix it would probably be better to spray brake or electric cleaner in there. WD-40 will attract dust and it will most likely continue to gum things up again. You want the bendix and shaft as dry as possible.
