Installed 3 out of 4 parabolic springs and mounted my new Power steering pump. Now the tricky part of getting the new column to connect to it a semi professional looking way. Beast is really starting to come together. Pics to follow when she is sitting back on the springs.Comment

Today I swapped out my rebuilt power steering pump (Scout II power steering conversion).
This makes my third rebuilt power steering pump in 2 years. First rebuild developed a noisy bearing within a few months. Second one got put in last fall and had a leak. Tightening hoses didn't help. Finally after a good cleaning & laying underneath for a while I discovered it leaked where the pump went into the reservoir. Snow happened soon thereafter. Lucas power steering stop leak didn't help and as it continued to stay cold the pump continued to leak unabated. I must have 2 gallons of power steering fluid on the driveway. It warmed up to fifty so I swapped the pump today. No apparent leaks or unusual noises so far. So I hope that the third pump is a charm. I was thinking of power washing the driveway but with nights below freezing I don't want to risk leaving water in the power washer. Besides we are expecting more snow in a couple days. The rebuilt pumps came from NAPA. Unfortunately I'm getting quick at power steering pump swaps in my truck.
Hopefully one more project completed.-

working on getting the S1 ready for the road. Spring is peaking it's head. Removed the radiator, all hoses, fan belt, generator, and working on the starter. Radiator had a little leak, going to a radiator shop. Sending the generator and starter for a little maintenance at a starter shop. New belt and hoses also. See a pile of other stuff I could do, but fighting getting in to deep.

Dizzy likes to unseat itself when I tighten the collar. Wrestled with that for a bit.
Installed a jump seat in the back. Will tackle the starter motor in a couple of days. Supposed to be warm and sunny here tomorrow, so I'll be on the road!1965 88 Petrol

sand blasted most of the engine bits, painted those that need it and scrubbed on some bolt heads to remove the gunk. next step- put the little diesel back together. the wife has graciously allowed the parts to sit on the radiators to bake the paint in a little faster than the kansas weather will allow.

I finally got the new Flaming River Tilt column attached to the 2012 Jeep Wrangler Gearbox using a Shaft from a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Next step is to get the Pitman arm to mount to the draglink. I will be cutting the S3 Link and attaching the jeep end to it. On the plus side it looks like the jeep links diameter is just about perfect to slip over the S3 one and weld. I also installed the new rear brake line I knicked with the grinder when installing the parabolic springs. Wiring continues on a daily basis. Hoping to head out to MOAB in it in May.

Still working on new power steering for my SIII and had a bit of luck last night. The Draglink from the original SIII steering when I cut off the gearbox end fit nicely into the 99 Jeep Cherokee Draglink. a couple of bolts later and the two were merged and I could steer the wheels again with my steering wheel! Next Challenge is getting a serpentine pulley for the engine - I don't think that was standard for Daihatsu.

well the might as wells have grabbed me with the radiator repair job on the 58 S1. The radiator panel and front right frame has a little surface rust so I pulled the wings , panel is next. Doing this now will prevent needing to pull the radiator again later. Will clean up the front of the frame and radiator panel. Also need to get the gunk, thickest I've ever seen' off the engine. It is hard as a rock can barely scrape it off. I found the source of the leak that this gunk originated from. The oil feed pipe to the head had a leak, had a bad repair at the top fitting.
